The International Food Information Service (IFIS) has announced plans to launch the Food Science Central Web site in October. The foundation of the site, www.FoodScienceCentral.com, will be a web implementation of the complete (1969-present) Food Science and Technology Abstracts (FSTA) database, provided directly from IFIS for the first time. This feature will deliver several services, including a search interface, online thesaurus and dictionary, and weekly alerting services notifying users of the latest additions to FSTA. Also, a new online mini-review journal, FSTA Bulletin, will report and interpret advances in key areas of the food sciences. Food Science Central will be the new home of IFIS on the web and will replace www.ifis.org.
