ASIAN UNIFICATION
A meeting of Southeast Asian government officials has put forward a roadmap to greater regulatory harmony across the region. The Product Working Group on Traditional Medicines and Health Supplements has been set up to explore how this sector can be better integrated. The group was due to meet in Thailand this month.

TRYPTOPHAN BACK IN UK
Tryptophan is back on the UK market for the first time since 1990 when it was banned after a contaminated batch was discovered. However, the industry is concerned the maximum daily intake of 220mg established by the UK Food Standards Agency is far too low. In countries such as the US, 1000mg-plus supplements are common.
