BANGKOK, Thailand—The first summit of Asian governments, international governments and dietary supplements industry experts will be held 24-25 September in Bangkok.
Top of the agenda will be a consideration of "the needs, opportunities and the issues that differentiate Asian countries and other areas of the world in the use and regulation of food supplements," according to the organisers, the International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplements Associations (IADSA).
The summit will also seek to "improve international understanding with a view to recognising differences and developing common ground in a fast-developing global market place."
Most Asian nations will be represented, including China's Deputy Director of Food and Cosmetic Administration in the Ministry of Health, Thailand's Director of Food Control Division in the Food and Drug Administration and the Philippines' Director of the Bureau of Food and Drugs.
Topics to be discussed include the use of scientific developments in Asia, the variation of health products among cultures, the role of Asia in international health product trade, and varying approaches to health claims within the region and internationally.
